How To Enjoy Your Life After Retirement While Traveling The World
Subscribe To Our FeedSo many people dread their retirement. For some reason they become institutionalized in their jobs. They start to see their jobs as what they are. And when the time comes to retire, they think their lives have stopped. While in reality it might only have started.
Suppose you retire at the age of 60. Realistically you then have another 15 or 20 healthy years ahead to spend in any way you want. You can either decide to spend those years idle and unhappy, or you can fill it with things that you like to do. Traveling is certainly one of the most fulfilling things a retired people can do with his/her time. If your spouse happens to love travel too, you could be in for the best years of your life.
If you plant to travel long term, Europe or America is the ideal spot. Buy yourself a mobile home and make sure it comes fitted with all the comforts and luxuries that you are used to. Make sure the man of the house has a good watch to keep track of time during the days on the road. A good men’s sport watch is ideal.
If you are fitness conscious (and to stay healthy this is a good idea!) you should think of taking along sports equipment. Should you be going to Europe skiing is a great way to have fun while getting some exercise. Buy decent alpine skiing equipment before you leave - it might be quite expensive to buy it once you get to your destination.
You might not think so now, but times on the road can sometimes get boring. You might be stuck in a small town for some or other reason and it will be a good thing if you have something with you that can help to pass the time. Board games is one option. Another one is a musical instrument. An alvarez acoustic guitar is a great idea - if one of you know how to play it!
A well-equipped first aid kit is a must for any trip. There will always be the uninvited inset bite or someone will cut him/herself while opening a tin. Getting septicemia while traveling in the mountains of Kazakhstan is nobody’s idea of fun and at times like that you will kick yourself for not bringing a first aid kit.
The single most important item in your travel toolkit will be your attitude. If you are going to moan and grown every time someone does something that does not fit in with your preconceived ideas of how things should be done, you will make yourself and those around you very unhappy. Learn to let go and live in the moment. Let your horizons widen. You might soon find that you never want to go home and wait for God in the lounge… Rather meet him somewhere in the Himalayas!
